From the House:
The Artwork of Louis Robinson
Folk artist Louis Robinson was born and raised in Helena, Arkansas. A self-taught artist, Robinson has been painting and drawing since he was 6 years old and has developed a unique style that belongs only to him. A long-time employee of Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas, Robinson recently retired from custodial staff in 2015. From the House will include paintings and drawings taken from the walls of Robinson’s home, which depict romanticized, fantastical Delta landscapes as well as forced perspective streetscapes and buildings—all of which are inspired by his own experiences throughout his life as a Phillips County resident. Over the years, Robinson’s works have been purchased by art patrons and folk art enthusiasts from all over the country.
Join us for the opening of From the House on Thursday, March 2 from 5pm to 8pm, during downtown Helena’s monthly Alive After Five event. Refreshments will be provided, and paintings will be available for purchase. The exhibit will run from March 2nd until April 25th.
